from: KNOWING THE PREGNANCY SIGNS
You think you might be pregnant, but you don’t know the pregnancy signs. This article will illuminate some of the key pregnancy signs that will help you know what to look for. Pregnancy signs are important to know for a multitude of reasons. If you want to plan ahead, plan for the safety of both, expectant mother and unborn child, financial reserves, etc. Knowing what to expect can help position you to be in a better place to handle the new challenges and joys pregnancy and parenthood can bring!
Some pregnancy signs closely resemble the symptoms many women face when having a menstrual period. Some of these symptoms include headaches, backaches, mood swings, and even bloating. Many speculate that this has to do with increased hormone levels. Regardless of why they come about knowing that they can be one of the many pregnancy signs is an important help to any expectant mothers or couples.
Some other pregnancy signs women experience are nausea and an increased sensitivity to smells. These two new symptoms work hand in hand. Having an increased sense of smell can make certain already abhorred smells even worse, or conversely better making others worse! This can indeed cause a woman to feel nauseous from things she loved before and crave things she used to dislike! These symptoms can also possibly be due to the increase in hormone levels!
Missing one’s period is a very big predictor of whether a woman is pregnant or not, however, it is not a conclusive symptom. Missing one’s period can indicate a number of other things as well, for example, high levels of stress can cause a woman to miss a period. To be certain that one is truly pregnant, it is recommended to take a pregnancy test at least one week after missing a period. If the test is positive, the next step would be to consult one’s physician.
Other such pregnancy signs are the enlargement and darkening in coloration of the areolas, or the nipples, and the enlargement of one’s breast size. Breasts can also feel tender or swollen as well; a symptom also common to what can occur when one is experiencing a menstrual cycle.
Another of the common pregnancy signs is a prolonged increase in a woman’s basal body temperature. If this change lasts for more than 18 days, it is highly likely that the woman is pregnant.
Some women are fortunate enough to not experience any of the common pregnancy signs! Others may experience only minor symptoms, while others may experience symptoms the entire pregnancy term! Whatever category a woman falls into, it is important to still be able to understand and recognize the signs!
